YN International School Educational Facility

Nobuaki Miyashita

Architecture, Building and Structure Design YN International School Educational Facility by Nobuaki Miyashita Planned international school campus in Yokohama, Japan. The design interprets Japanese rice terraces as a spatial system for learning. A stepped mass rises from north to south to satisfy strict shadow regulations while stacking planted roof terraces as daily learning landscapes. A central skylight and atrium bring daylight deep into the plan and organize circulation as a shared spine for encounters. Wood louvers filter light and views, giving the architecture a quiet Japanese character. Transparent classroom fronts and terraces support outdoor learning, retreat, curiosity, and exchange.
